Last Day of School

Today marks the last day of school and also the end of Amanda's Primary 2...  Next year, she will be moving on to Primary 3 and it's going to be a new challenge for her since Pri 3s will have another subject i.e. Science...  I wonder how she's gonna cope with additional 1 more subject...

Anyway, overall I am quite happy with her results as she managed to obtain a percentage of slightly under 92% even though she made a boo boo in her SA2 English....  Thank goodness for SA1...  phew!

Having been in Pei Hwa for 2 years, I am beginning to realise that it is extremely competitive here....  It is so scary to see how these kids dash to the finishing point...  I heard from Amanda that there are so many ties for each position especially in the top 4 classes i.e. a few First's, a few Second's a few Third's etc...

As I was waiting for Amanda to finish school today, I met some parents and we had a long chat (cos kids were dismissed 30mins later)....  One of the Dad whipped out his iPhone calculator and started calculating the cut-off point for Top 80; as the Principal has decided to change the system for next year by grouping them as Top 80 and next 80 instead of Charity, Faith, Grace and Hope...  I cannot imagine how some parents are so smart and can even calculate this...  By the way,  his child had the same score as Amanda...  Ok, now let me share confuse you what I learnt today....  :))

Charity - 31 pax    (based on the assumption that all 31 are within top 80 in standard)
Faith - 20 pax    (the cut-off point from Faith to Hope was based on their aggregate score)
Grace - 14 pax
Hope - 13 pax    (can you imagine there are 6 ties in one position)
Total - 78 pax

That leaves with a balance of 2 places for anyone from Humility to Wisdom who obtained the same aggregate score at the cut-off point.. If there are 2, then it will be just nice to fill the 80 positions..  but if there are more than 2, then it would mean that some people with the same aggregate would be out of the Top 80...  However, there are around 10 of them with the same aggregate... so I am not sure how the Principal is gonna filter them....

If nobody from Humility to Wisdom obtained the Cut-off point, then the 21st of Faith, 15th of Grace and 14th of Hope will vie for the 2 places...

Phew!!  This is so complicated and I was so confused at the way he calculated...  until I went and slowly digested what he said...  Gosh...  I told a few fellow mummies and they also went like "huh?"... Hahaha...  so competitive hor...  Anyway, we will know when we receive their Percentile and Class Posting from the school in Mid December...  *Fingers crossed*....

Fetched Amanda from school and then brought her to Pizza Hut for lunch...  It has been a while since we dined at Pizza Hut and Amanda enjoyed it so much....
she must be so relieved that it's the last day of school, hence the good appetite....
my coffee...  we actually wanted to try the choc cake but we were too full already..  we will try it another time...
met up with kevin and raymond for a meal....  it was our first time trying the food at the junction of ulu pandan...  food was yummy and parking was so convenient...  good recommendation by raymond...  but unfortunately, i think i must have eaten a contaminated oyster and had the runs since 5am on saturday and it lasted for 4 days....  haiz...  seems like it only happened to me even though all of us ate the dish....  真是倒霉...
