Day 4 & Bidding Farewell to Taipei

4 days passed so quickly and it's time for us to bid goodbye to Taipei...  We deliberately chose the last flight out of Taipei so that we could still do some last minute shopping before we left...
our breakfast...  took another photo of it before we sank our teeth....  can't bear to eat them cos they are just to kawaiiiiiii.....
this cake's very very delicious....
view from our room...  the skies were clear today, so we decided to take some photos...
clear blue sky...  you will notice the difference when you compare the photo i took on day 1....
21 deg cel...  so hot!!!...  nice for photography but not so nice if you are walking along the streets...  scorching sun!...  luckily we were leaving today, and shopping was all at the underground malls...  hehehe....
some last minute tid-bits!
route map...  their train network is so simple and easy to move around...
we must try this crepe next time
lunch at award winning magic curry restaurant...
their ice-coffee rawks! look at the way they brew it....
ice on top, coffee powder in the middle and fragrant coffee dripping out below...  so interesting...  no wonder the coffee tastes so rich and aromatic without the slightest dilution at all...  i hate it when ice is added to coffee thus making it diluted... but seems like singapore's iced coffee are all made this way, huh?
their accolades

we love the rice!
(left) chicken curry  (right) beef curry...  somehow we prefer the chicken to beef....
special iced coffee and taiwanese desserts...  the white layer you see on top of the coffee is actually milk...  we were quite "suaku" and didn't know, and we told the waitress we needed milk for the coffee...  hohoho!!!....  the desserts are very special too... and the ice cream is cardamom ice cream!
watch the colour of the coffee change...
to this!...  only remembered to take when we almost finished it...  coffee was so nice that we were slurping non stop...  :))

After lunch, we went back to the hotel where our driver was waiting for us at the lobby to fetch us to the airport...  The taxi driver was so sweet and he brought us via another route where we got to enjoy scenic view of Taipei before we left...  how nice...  We loved the view we saw....  left side was mountainous while the sea was on our right....  What a picturesque view!  Oh yes, he charged us a flat fee so we needn't worry about the fare or distance he went....  *winks*
the taxi was moving so quickly but i managed to capture a few shots...  a pity i didn't get much of the sea...
driver helping us to unload...
our luggage was so heavy and each of us exceeded the weight limit by 10 kg....  woahhhh....  luckily the supervisor at the sq counter told his staff to let us pass...  phew!!!
flight was on schedule at 6pm....

home sweet home....  we were supposed to arrive singapore at 10.35pm but the plane only touched down slightly after 11pm...  hmmm...  is this considered on schedule?

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip...  great food, great shopping and great time for sister-bonding...   In fact, I'm yearning for the Mee Sua already...  not because of the intestines (I don't particularly like them)... but it's just the taste of the Mee Sua especially with vinegar, chilli and garlic and the heat trapped within the Mee Sua makes it even nicer....  mmmm......

However, much as I enjoyed my trip, I missed my family too...  Now's time to get back to reality and await my little darling's SA2 results...  By the way, I was very disappointed when she told me on Friday evening that her form teacher told her she didn't do well for her English and asked her what happened during the exam....  She has consistently been doing very well including SA1 and all her mock papers in school where she got close to full marks...  Haiz...  I find it just so hard to believe....  :(((

Before I end this post, let me share some of my findings on Taiwanese Pineapple Tarts....
the golden box above is packaging of 12 pieces while the smaller box with pineapple design is packaging of 8 pieces....

These pineapple tarts are just so delicious....  they simply melt in your mouth....  mmm... and what makes it special is also it comes with a whole egg yolk....  Even Daddy who doesn't take salted eggs and doesn't fancy pineapple tarts has fallen in love with it...  The tarts are so precious and we only give to a few "honoured" ones....  not because of the price (the golden box costs S$20 per box), but because it is not easy to carry them back...
they are so fresh that they only have a shelf life of 2 weeks...  note the year on the sticker...  99 refers to year 2010...  strange right?....  hmmm...  taiwanese way of counting!
(left) tai yang bing (right) pineapple tarts again...  we tried from other shops just to prove ourselves...  and it is indeed true cos these are just NOT NICE!...  the tarts don't melt in the mouth....
packaging looks good, but doesn't taste as good as it's packaging...
it's freshly baked too...  since date of manufacture was 31 oct...  but it doesn't state expiry...  hmmm...  so does it mean we can keep for a few months?....  gosh, how much preservatives did they add?
