Family Outing At Jurong Bird Park

It was an early Saturday morning and the SIM family set off our family outing to Jurong Bird Park at 7.30 am.  Weather was perfect...  Very cooling (due to the heavy rain the past few days), not too sunny and most importantly NO RAIN!!!... Hmm...  What more can we ask for!!!
one of the first few to arrive even before the park opens...  aren't we kiasu?... heehee...
we deliberately came here early to have breakfast la... not to be the first to enter the park! haha!!
entering the park in excitement...

The first place we headed to was the Penguin Coast...
the left penguin is sleeping!
i love the shots taken of the penguins..... i thought it was quite well-taken since the room was almost in darkness, plus they penguins were all within glass enclosure...
a family of penguins!...  can you believe this was taken with my compact dummy camera??  beautiful, isn't it?!!  i thought it looks clearer than my dslr...  heehee...
the outdoor baby penguin...
the outdoor parrots...
you scratch my back....
and i scratch your back...
family photo with the flamingos...
beautiful flamingos...

At the Fuji Birds of Prey Show at Fuji Hawk Walk...
using binoculars for a better view...
they needed a little girl and she volunteered...
check out her expression as the vulture snatched away the juicy worm! didn't manage to capture as it was too swift and my camera was on standby with max zoomed lens, hence i couldn't capture it...
the souvenir she received for being a brave volunteer...

Birds from the Fuji Birds of Prey Show...

Birds and Buddies Show at Pools Amphitheatre....
daddy likes the picture of this... he says it reminds him of postage stamps...  heehee...
look! i managed to capture the macaw flying through the ring!! with zoom lens some more...  *ahem ahem*!  wait till you see the next shot!!.... *rolls drums*....
before.....
tada!!!  good shot right?  :))
ruffled feathers...

fun at penguin wonderland...
she was invited to a penguin party at 1.30pm!!
making a pledge to conserve energy...

To the Southeast Asian Aviary...
beautiful mandarin duck...
finally managed to capture them in pairs...
(left) by dslr.... (right) by compact.... all photos here were taken by my dslr unless specified...  :))  by the way, these birds and papayas were all within a cage and we took it from outside the cage....
i find this bird very interesting looking... and somewhat resembles someone... heehee...

washing hands before leaving the aviary...
Break for lunch....  :))
we enjoyed our lunch... cheap and delicious... the tea tarik was good too!
(right) happy family...  daddy wanted to buy this set of trio, but after looking at it, realised the quality wasn't that good, hence we gave it a miss...

Continued with the outing after lunch...
eewww...  can you see the ants?....
can you see the dropping dark brown feather?  isn't this a good shot?!
taken during the pelican chit-chat session...  we were late and didn't get any seats, hence these pictures were taken at a distance with a few rows of people standing in front of me...  i practically had to zoom my lens in between their heads.... but then again, i was very impressed with my skills...  haha...
the african waterfall...

The photos below were taken with the birds all caged up...  but I managed to focus till the cages could not be seen....  hmmm... very happy with myself for being able to do that....  heehee....
aren't these birds lovely?
playing peek-a-boo with daddy before we walked towards the exit...

All of us thoroughly enjoyed this outing. The weather definitely added to our good mood... Not only was it fun and educational, I also managed to capture some lovely pictures of birds and plants with my DSLR!!!  Daddy said I was as happy as a lark today!!!
