Babe's Flip Flops

Some 2 years ago, I bought a few pairs of flip flops for Amanda whilst on business trip in the Philippines... Of the 3 pairs of flip flops I bought from that trip, she only wore 1 i.e. the pink Havaianas (below).... I paid appproximately S$28 after conversion; which is supposedly cheaper as compared to Singapore.... the other 2 pairs were a little over-sized....

Today, finally she took out the 2 pairs of Mr Bean flip flops and was able fit into the red pair on the left and she wore it out..... the green pair on the right is still a little big.... oh dear... how on earth did I buy such a big pair 2 years ago??!!..... I bought a similar green pair of Mr Bean flip flop for my nephew too.... but it seems like I haven't seen him wear it too... :P

Cutie Cakes

Amanda was bored at home, so I decided to take her out for a breather.... Brought her to the Indonesian Embassy to collect my Maid's passport. Then I asked her where she wanted to go next. I proposed various places e.g. Secret Recipe, Fish & Co, Coffee Club, Coffee Bean, Hotel for Cheesecake, Ikea for Swedish Meatballs, New York New York etc... But guess where she chose and insisted on going?...... Mac Donalds. We went to King Albert Park MAC. After that, we popped in Bengawan Solo to take a look... and Amanda got so excited when she saw some very pretty cakes.....

guess what Amanda chose?

she chose WINX CLUB and BUGS BUNNY/TWEETY BIRD..... each piece costs S$3.50
moments before she sank her teeth into the cake.... and oh by the way... she chose to eat the WINX CLUB cake first....

Creative Baking

Amanda attended another school holiday activity i.e. Creative Baking. Today, she learnt to bake Cornflour Cookies and Chocolate Tarts. Rae attended it with her too. As usual, Amanda always enjoys such activities. She got to know a few friends in this class and one of the boy, Bryan, even asked for her mobile number and he called her immediately after they left class.... haha.....

I was a little disappointed with the outcome.... lacks presentation... but they do taste yummy :)

Complimentary Trial Lesson

I received an sms from the school that they were giving Amanda a complimentary trial class because she attended the June School Hols programme.... and we accepted, knowing very well that after the trial class, it would be "hard selling" time to persuade us to enrol her for it. But we still went ahead with it....
She enjoyed the lesson and learnt about Facts & Opinions in this lesson.... But I was not too impressed, so did not enrol her for the class.... plus, her weekends schedule is full....

Happy Fathers' Day

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY to all fathers!
and to my beloved father, a Happy Father's Day Papa...
and Happy Father's Day to Daddy darling.....
We celebrated Fathers' Day earlier as Sis & her family would be away on a Swiss/Paris holiday and Mum & Dad were also going away on a short trip... We enjoyed ourselves very much as it was family bonding time and there were 3 fathers around... Dad, Daddy & my bro-in-law....
kong kong & his lovely grandchildren....

the kidzzzz.... the couzzzz....
didn't put up our family photo cos mum had a sore on her mouth and some marks on her face that night and she didn't want to be seen "not pretty"....

Inline Skating

Amanda tried inline skating again this evening after a 6-month break.... But today, she skated only for a while as the skies turned dark and it started to drizzle.... I am glad she has not lost touch despite the long break, but I do gather that she is losing out on her stamina. In the past, she could skate for a long time and for quite a distance.... or probably, her interest has died down.....

Amanda's very 1st skating attempt on 1 Jan 2008 (left) vs now 20 Jun 2009 (centre & right)

Amanda learnt inline skating all by herself on 1 Jan 2008. First she watched Daddy do it for the 1st time on 1 Jan 2008, then after 1 hour, she told us she wanted to rent a pair of skates to try. Her first half hour was spent holding onto the railing all by herself whilst wearing the skates. Then after half an hour, she suddenly let go of the railing and was able to balance on her own without holding! Daddy and I were impressed with her!.... and there she was, able to skate on her first attempt and within 1 hour...... To reward her, we bought her a pair of skates immediately on her next skating attempt.

From Tales to Boards

It was so sweet of Rae's Mummy, Aunty Gladys, to register for Amanda a seat together with Rae, for the above activity at the National Library.... and she even refused to collect the money from me..... oh I feel so bad..... Amanda says : "Thank you Aunty Gladys!"

The session was interesting. They first started off with a story and then putting the story onto the board to make a board game. Though it was a 1 hour session, the kids enjoyed themselves very much.

Babe's Ear Piercing Experience

Babe was very scared about getting her ears pierced, but I felt that this is a good time to have it done, so I coaxed her into it... I had actually wanted her to get those coloured stones but she chose a silver star ear-rings instead and coincidentally it was exactly the same pair I had when I pierced mine a few decades ago.... but mine was a golden star!

However, when the lady took out the "gun" Amanda got so scared and wanted out of it. The entire process took extremely long; almost 1.5 hours when the norm should have been 5 minutes! Amanda was trying to play with time, and then babbling this and that, and she even cried so pitifully; especially after doing the left side, she cried so pathetically and said "when the lady counted 1, 2, 3 the gun shoot me so painful..... sob sob....." She even struggled and pushed the gun away that the ear-rings dropped out of the gun. Amanda was offered drinks, sweets, sweet talks etc, but none worked.
In the end, one of the lady's colleague helped her and we got her right side pierced at last (after much persuasion and with some force). OMG!!! Imagine 4 adults holding onto her head and hands; plus another one talking to her to distract her!!! Didn't get a chance to take a photo of her right side piercing because I was busy holding onto her and she forbade me to do so too!

piercing of the left side (look at her facial expression)
Finally all was done! Thanks to all the patient staff in the shop! When Amanda didn't feel the pain anymore, she asked me "Mummy, do I look pretty???".... and she started shopping for ear-rings. I ended up buying another pair of white gold Dolphin Ear-Rings (it costs me S$88) for her to change into once her ears have recovered....
P/S : Special thanks to KATE on her recommendation for the ear piercing......

HAHA!!! What an unforgettable and hilarious experience.... Even Amanda is laughing at herself why she had such a reaction....

Short Weekend Getaway to Malaysia

It was a last minute decision to book a room at the Zon Hotel in JB.... Mum & Dad are away on a short trip while Sis & her family are holidaying in Switzerland and Paris! We wanted so so much to go somewhere, but Daddy does not dare to because of the H1N1 Flu Virus. We have a preference for cold weather, but currently most countries are experiencing Summer; which is something none of us could take it whilst on a holiday (especially Amanda and me)..... the only Winter countries now will be Australia and New Zealand.... Australia - most badly hit for H1N1; New Zealand - we will keep it for next year where we reckon we will go there very often for long periods... So..... Daddy felt JB was the best place as we didn't want to drive for too long as well.....

Eventhough it was just a simple getaway (which we have ever stayed there many times), we enjoyed our family bonding. Swimming, listening to music in the lounge, cuddling in bed snacking and watching movies, shopping, eating and more eating.....

Shopping at Centrepoint

I decided to drive to Centrepoint as I needed to grab something for myself from there. However, it ended up as a GSS shopping spree for Amanda instead.... I ended up buying for her a few Disney T-Shirts, skirts, undergarments and sports shoes... We were tired after walking for a few hours so we decided to have some snacks at Long John Silvers as Amanda has never tried it before.... she enjoyed it very much and even asked me to "take away" another set for her.... haha!
amanda voluntarily helped to share the load by carrying a few of the shopping bags without even being asked to.... (above left)
Amanda loves the tees I bought her and immediately changed into one of them the moment we reached home... she's wearing it at home now as I am blogging.... :)

guess what else I bought for her other than the many other buys????

scroll down to see.... *smiles*

but she refuses to wear the bra top!!!
