Amanda has been practising for months since January for today's Science Expression performance..... The Science Expression showcases the talents of Primary 2 kids integrating Science into Drama where kids also get to bond with their Daddies as there is a lot of focus on Fathering elements including lots of Father and Child activities.... and today, Daddy is indeed very honoured to be appointed as Judge for the competition once again..... A total of 10 judges were invited for this event and one of the judges included another Daddy whose daughter was from Charity and performing in the 4th item, Caterpillar's Voice....
There are basically 5 groups for today's competition with the groups appearing (1) Walking Through The Rainforest (2) Owl Babies (3) What Will The Weather Be Today (4) Caterpillar's Voice (5) Animals Alive... and my little darling happens to be in the 5th Group!
daddy dropping by to meet amanda before proceeding upstairs for the judges briefing.... whilst i helped to make-up the kids....
kids getting ready in the holding room... making-up, resting & also rehearsing.... amanda and her friends in the same team... amanda is dressed in her school uniform as she is the "schoolgirl" in the play... how sad that she didn't get any chance to wear the costumes.... :(
this boy is so cute... he approached me to take a picture for amanda and him... and just before i was about to press the shutter, he put his arm round her shoulder... i was shocked!.... omg... faintz....
the lion asking for help.... this boy was asking amanda to help him zip up his costume... looks like she's quite popular with the guys huh?... but no no.... you are still too young for BGR.... haha.....
the warm up....
the final rehearsal...
By the time Ryna, Gladys and I went up, the performance had already started and we had missed the first item Walking Through The Rainforest.... but thankfully, I had a reasonably good seat reserved for me, thanks to Janie for helping to "chope" a seat for me....
2nd group.... owl babies.....
3rd group.... what will the weather be like today.... 4th group.... caterpillar's voice.... huiting is performing in this group and i am helping janie to take more photos of her since her camera batteries went flat....
claire was the narrator for the group....
end of item 4....
oooh.... spotted daddy sitting among the ten judges.... and finally... animals alive.... my little darling's group.... the zebras....
the hunters.... the tiny boy on the right is so cute... during rehearsals, he was always unable to pronounce the word "elephant" and kept saying "look at the Eh-phant"... and the teacher had to keep correcting and reminding him to pronounce "ELE"... haha... the elephants....
the baboons....
the giraffes.... amanda's good friend emily was one of the giraffes.... the cheetahs....
birds of paradise....
amanda's turn to speak....
and they saved the lion!....
with amanda taking the lead in front of the microphone, the group gathered and sang the song "the lion sleeps tonight"... the moment they started "ah wee ma weh, ah wee ma weh"... everyone in the audience started laughing and got excitied.... the animals have indeed COME ALIVE....
the kids looking so natural and happy on stage.... with this marks the end of the Science Expression performance where the judges adjouned for their discussion and moderation of marks...
amanda and mummy outside genesis room waiting for daddy... can you see amanda sulking?.. she was upset that she couldn't remain in the room to hear the results... the judges were afraid she would "leak" out information....
a second shot... and she managed to smile a little.... we went downstairs where she took more photos with her friends... daddy ended his discussion and came down to meet up... he was holding his "thank you" gift from mr woon... this year the gift was presented behind the scene, whereas last year, it was mrs foo who presented to the judges....
a family photo before we left... thanks to the teacher-in-charge....
The judges have unanimously decided on the winner with the 1st winner having a total of more than 300 points and the 2nd winner trailing behind by more than 10 points... However, they have decided to award both 1st and 2nd winners with GOLD Award....
Hmmm.... somehow it seems like the ranking of the points and winners coincide with the reverse sequence of the performance items appearance.... *hint hint*.... Hush hush.... Ssshhhhh.... We will leave it to the school to announce the winners... haha....
Okie, gotta rush off to University Cultural Centre now...
