Visit to SPCA

Amanda has been so crazy over dogs these few days.  Hence we decided to make a trip to the SPCA for her to take "window shopping"... hur hur!

just the 2 of us... amanda was at mama's place playing with her cousin... she wasn't keen on joining us as she has already tried the food here and playing with darren was more fun...

brought her to pet lovers for dog shopping... isn't the white samoyed cute? we almost bought him until we googled for more information...  love the border collie beside her too...

Family Bonding & Happy 端午节！

After so much rushing to and fro the hospital, it's now time for a little family bonding...

amanda had almost recovered from her fever so we brought her to ikea at tampines for some chicken wings and at the same time to shop for some furniture...

celebrating rice dumpling festival in our new backyard... rice dumplings with compliments from our neighbour... now you know why we don't want to seal the wall between us huh? hehehe...

Mama's Knee Replacement Surgery

Mama had her knee replacement surgery done on 2 June... Below are pictures of her and her recovery from 2 June to her discharge on 7 June 2011.

Amanda and I fetched her and Kongkong at 6.15am and arrived TTSH before am on the day of the surgery...  waiting for the operation...  it was a really long wait before they finally pushed her into the theatre at close to 10am....

poor amanda ran a fever of 38.5 deg cel the moment we reached home from the hospital at 1pm... we were supposed to return to the hospital to visit mama but because of the fever, we waited for daddy to be home, left amanda with kakak and then daddy and i visited mama... amanda wasn't able to visit mama throughout the stay as we didn't want her to be exposed to more virus...

extreme left photo was taken hours after her op in the high dependency ward... the rest of the photos were taken in her room...  mama took her first step on the 3rd day of her surgery... pretty good progress i must say!

we took turns to sleep over with mama... my turn to stay over on 5 june 2011...  some of the gifts mama received... the rest have been brought home by sis...

Ready for discharge on 7 June 2011...

i fetched mama back from the hospital... the drive home was really really difficult and stressful as mum was in pain and couldn't take the long drive since the wound was still fresh... hence i tried speeding.. but on the other hand, she would wince in pain at the slightest hump or bump on the road including the tapping of brakes... boi was i glad when we arrived at her place... phew... 

An Almost Ready Backyard & Our New Ceiling Fan

After 2 weeks of renovation, our backyard is almost ready...  Shopped for table and chairs as well as a ceiling fan... We decided to get the normal white resin table and chairs instead of those fanciful ones. Reason being Daddy wanted something practical and lightweight so that we could move the table and chairs anytime and anywhere we wanted.  For ceiling fan, I asked around and decided that Amasco 56 inch was the best choice for us... The guy told us that the blade was tiltled for maximum coverage...  Wow, cool!

the place was still dusty and the floor quite dirty, but we still decided to have our supper here just for the fun of it.. and can you see the that hoarding is still not taken down yet?  ah... the little pleasures in life....  daddy & i recall how we used to pack food to this house many years ago... we were so excited about the purchase of this house that we bought food and ate a few of our meals from the balcony of the master bedroom... way before the lights were up and reno was done... it was really fun!  neighbours must be thinking that this couple has gone cuckooooo... lol!!

Renovation Updates - Day 14 & Dinner

By Day 14, we were almost done... The contractors just needed to fix up the ceiling fan and lights, add the finishing touch to the roof, paint the walls and wash up the flooring and we are almost done!

Weekends

28 May 2011 - Buona Vista Boneless Duck for lunch, Spinelli's for tea time and Mellben Crabs for dinner... Both the Chilli and Claypot Beehoon crabs were extremely fresh and delicious... This shop has never failed us so far....

29 May 2011 - Banana Leaf Nasi Bryani at Samy's Curry @ Dempsey...  Amanda's very first experience with Banana Leaf Rice and she thoroughly enjoyed it....

the food was really good, rice was free flow, but the pricing was on the steep side... daddy's tiny prawn cost almost S$10 while his fried fish cost over S$20...  by the way, we met mediacorp actress michelle chong at the restaurant too...  restaurant is very popular among expats too...

Day 8 of Reno & Secret Recipe Lunch

Cementing the floor and smoothening of walls by Day 8... Now... is this considered fast or slow?....  Hmm, I don't know... haha!!

our delicious lunch at secret recipe... both amanda and daddy ate crayfish pasta whilst i ate laksa... amanda ordered a fish soup bowl too... the soup cost S$8.90 but it certainly isn't worth the money...
