Our Winter Holiday in Tokyo, February 2006

When we told Amanda we would be bringing her to Tokyo Disneyland, she was sooo excited and shouted "YEAH!!! i can see mickey & minnie mouse!!!"
And.... off we went for our winter holiday in Japan... The flight to Tokyo was more manageable as compared to New Zealand. It was Amanda's first trip to Japan, though both us of have been there a couple of times. We visited Mount Fuji, Asakusa Temple, Lake Kawaguchi, took a Pirate Cruise, enjoyed ourselves in the Hot Spring and experienced Fireworks too.

Amanda had lots of ice cream in Japan and she particularly loved the ice cream she ate at Mount Fuji. It was so cold up there around 3 degrees and Amanda's ice cream didn't even melt after an hour.... this is the only time Amanda can take her time to savour her ice cream....

Disneyland left the deepest impression on our babe... guess most adults & kids love Disneyland :) I love Disneyland too, and have been to most of the Disneylands around i.e. States, Tokyo, EuroDisney....

Amanda was so excited when she saw Mickey & Minnie. She tried many of the rides including Its a Small World (my all time favourite cos it brings back the childhood in me), Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Picnochio, Winnie the Pooh, Tom Sawyer, Pirates of the Carribean (another of my favourite), Jumbo the Flying Elephant, Alice's Tea Cup, Carousel and a few other rides....

Amanda's new friend I-cha, a Japanese girl who came here with her Grandparents. They exchanged goodies; Amanda gave her Pooh popcorns, whilst I-cha gave her Pooh lollipops.

Amanda was totally exhausted by the time it was 11pm. We didn't realise that until she lied down and dozed off on the bench whilst waiting for the coach..... haha....

It was really a memorable trip for Amanda as she got to play at Disneyland and at the same time her first snow experience....

Amanda's 1st Summer Holiday @New Zealand, February 2005

Yes! Amanda's first experience taking a plane to New Zealand.... and it was really a hilarious one too! She was 3 years old then.
Amanda was all seated by the window seat and safetly belted for take-off. In order to prevent her from feeling discomfort due to the sudden change in air pressure, I gave her a bottle of milk to suck. She was totally oblivious of what was going to happen next.

She was happily playing, dancing and singing in her seat when suddenly the plane picked up speed for take off. The extreme loud sound coupled with the sudden increase in speed caused her to panic for a few seconds! For that moment, she grabbed me tight and screamed "Mummy"! I assured her it was alright, and there she was, back to normal again... that was a sight I will never forget... the shocked expression on her face was soooo cute! Oh yes, she vomited in the plane too; all because of me... just because mummy wanted her to finish her packet of Magnolia fresh milk :(

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly during our 2 weeks' stay.... every minute of our stay was filled with lovely unforgettable memories.....
We visited Gu Ma, Gu Zhang, Ray, Clement & JP in Hamilton and had a very good family time together as well.

Besides all the other tourist attractions which we visited, Amanda also experienced her very first "Hole-in-One" Golf and Canoeing in New Zealand...

Something happened on the last day of our stay at the hotel in Waipuna. Just as Amanda was about to step into the hotel, she tripped and fell on her knees. It was bleeding and she kept on crying for 10 minutes... thank goodness, the hotel receptionist gave us a "plaster" which Amanda liked very much because of its luminous blue colour.

Our flight back to Singapore was much better than our flight to New Zealand. Thanks to 7 yr old Jason and his 12 yr old sister, Sarah, who sat behind us. They were Singaporean Chinese who have migrated to New Zealand and were returning to Singapore to visit their relatives. Amanda didn't feel restless or bored as she had someone to talk to throughout the whole 10 hour flight.

The kids spoke about many things; and Jason asked Amanda if she loves to drink 7-Up. At that time, she had never heard about 7-Up as we had never exposed her to that drink. All she knew was Coke. So, she innocently answered Jason "I like 7-DOWN". Oh my goodness, Daddy & I couldn't help laughing when we heard that! What an innocent answer!!!

This trip was really an unforgettable one for darling Amanda.....
